This is a not for profit organisation that, with the help of our staff members volunteers & partners,  bring people who have been touched by addiction together in the North East. Whether you are a family member, someone in recovery or you have been affected by the impact of social decline in YOUR community, Recovery Advocacy North East can help.

In our experience recovery does not happen in isolation but happens in communities with the help support & guidance of others. People do change & can go on to lead healthy productive, meaningful lives, helping build recovery capital for the individual is fundamental to this process & we believe most disadvantaged people have skills, talents, experiences & core beliefs to enable them to explore & grow as people.

Why are we different?

All of our staff & volunteers have had lived experience of social issues whether that is addictions, mental health, homelessness, offending or domestic violence, we believe as experts by experience we are more than qualified to help build stronger communities
This project is built on the theory of ABCD, asset based community development and pro social modeling
Asset-based community development (ABCD) differs from needs-based community development in that it focuses primarily on honing and leveraging existing strengths within a community rather than bolstering community deficiencies. Related to tenets of empowerment, it postulates that solutions to community problems already exist within a community's assets.
